Two Thumbs Up (I’d give it three if I were polydactyl)

Seattle public transportation

We arrived in Seattle this morning fully rested and without a hitch. Instead of hailing a cab to our Capitol Hill destination, we decided to take the bus (hey, we make make you do it). After waiting about 20 minutes the 194 into downtown Seattle picked up all the weary travelers at Bay 2. Once we exited SeaTac, passed the Boeing plant and came upon the Seattle skyline (I tried to picture it without the Needle and it’d looked bland, kind of like Oklahoma City). When our bus driver took us off the 5, I began thinking, “this ride is going to take forever.” I imagined that we’d take surface streets through congested downtown stopping at every light, stop sign and pedestrian; I couldn’t have been more wrong. The 194 zipped by one stop after another driving on a road designed only for buses! Way-to-go city planners of Seattle. I’m totally impressed. Still I wish Sound Transit was up and running today, but I can wait ’til 2009.
