Secrets to Urban Adventure Race Revealed
A lot of people ask me, “how did come up with that clue?” Racers are especially interested in how we find and write clues in cities in which we don’t live. So here are just a few tid-bits as to how we create and write clues…
First we look at the lay of the land and decide what would be good boundaries for our localized Amazing Race. We also make sure that some type of public transportation ebbs and flows by at a reasonable frequency after that we now able to move forth and write the clues.
Now the actual writing of the clues comes a lot from what’s in our heads. Lately, we have been using references from summer blockbuster movies, the political election and other current events. We’ll never use something the is too obscure.
Our resources: We fact check everything thrice (unless it’s a plaque, statue or monument) beginning with Wikipedia (great tool, but use it wisely). We have a few other sites, but we don’t want to give away everything!
Another great way we find and create such fun games is on our fold up bicycle…yes, we bring a bike along on every trip. It helps us find those hard to reach areas of the city. It definately allows us to the opportunity to go where go race director has gone before.
