Life on the Road

Travel

During the four years that High Trek Adventure has been around I’ve traveled from city to city via planes, trains and automobiles, become a master of airline security lines and Amtrak railways, and I often become more familiar with cities than my friends who’ve lived their for years.

Yesterday I traveled on Amtrak’s 285 train from Rochester to New York before switching to the 129 ultimately bound for our nation’s capital. I feel lucky to see so many unique, interesting, and beautiful parts of America. Out my window I saw the rolling farm hills of Upstate NY just weeks before the leaves on the tree were to peak (some were trying to be noticed early), towering buildings of the behemoth Manhattan skyline (Philly is too shabby either) and the beautiful waterways of the Hudson River and lovely Inner Harbor of Baltimore.

If you ever get the chance to travel, do! There is nothing like exploring and discovering new places and people. You’ll also find out a lot about yourself (believe me when I say that).

Here are some travel sites I use when my feet just won’t do:

www.sidestep.com
www.southwest.com
www.amtrak.com
www.vayama.com – International travel

Hint: When booking flights on Orbitz.com, Expedia.com or your favorite travel search site, try seaching for oneway fares rather than round trips. You’ll often find fares lower when flying on different airlines, than booking a round trip! Happy traveling.
