I have to be honest, I did not see the season 13′s premier of The Amazing Race. I did view some of CBS’ clips and read CBS’ recap of the opening season of my favorite reality adventure race. Additionally, I found some very cool and helpful info for all you AR fans.
Wrap up: All eleven teams began in the Los Angeles Coliseum where they had to race up the steps to find there first clue. Once at the top of the steps, the contestants found out that they were bound for Salvador, Brazil! Whoo-hoo! The twenty-two adventure racers traveled in style to LAX in their self chauffeured Mercedes Benz.
At LAX there was a mix up with where to find the plane tickets. You need to look for the red and yellow Amazing Race flag, people! Ken & Tin and Terence & Sarah found the correct ticket counter, thus ensuring spots on a flight destined for Brazil a whole 3 hours earlier!!! (It pays not to be a sheep.) Toni & Dallas, Anthony & Stephanie, Marisa & Brooke, and Anita & Arthur all left 180 minutes after the rest.
Once in Brazil, all the participants had to find a sandwich shop called O Rei Do Pernil. It was here where they got there next clue. The racers had to push a local vending cart through the narrow streets of Salvador to a popular plaza known as Praca Da Se, and deliver the cart to Indio in exchange for their next clue. The vending cart contained packages that kept falling off slowing the contestants down.
The next clue was a detour:
1. Ascend a 240 foot cargo net to the street:

2. Climb a stone staircase on their hands and knees as locals do for a spiritual pledge. At the top, they’ll be asked the mystery question to earn their next clue. If they’re wrong, they had to climb the stairs again. Only the frat boyed team of Andrew & Dan chose this. When the got to top, they got the question wrong. They were asked how many steps are in the stone staircase.
Nick & Starr came in first winning a trip to Belize courtesy of Travelosity. Arthur & Anita were eliminated.
