Favorite Section of the Valley of the Sun
Ah, Arizona…how I miss your hot dry weather, your Mexican restaurants (I could name dozens that I would hope the next flight to Sky Harbor just to for a taste) and your rugged beauty.
My “Favorite Section” of the Valley of the Sun is none other than, you guessed it Tempe. Tempe has it all big time collegiate athletics (ASU), a man made lake, Los Angeles Angles’ spring training and some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever tasted. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Also home of Andrew Lappitt & Dan Honig (both attended ASU).
I lived in Tempe from 2002-2006 within a 1/4 mile of Arizona State University home of the ASU Sun Devils and really loved my neighborhood. So many great restaurants and my favorite pub of all-time, Casey Moore’s. Casey’s was the first host site of the very first High Trek Adventure race!

Located on AZ State’s campus was one of my favorite quiet spots known as the Secret Garden. It was here where I would escape from the student body (I worked on campus as a research assistant, never was a student here) and read or just take a nap in the warm sun.
Oh, and last but certainly not least are the Mexican restaurants: Mucho Gusto and Restaurant Mexico are two of my favorite south of the border restaurants and they both happened to be within a mile of my house. I really miss Chad Whitycomb’s (owner, Mucho Gusto) creations. His mole was outstanding!!!!
Other great spots: Oregano’s, Thai Basil, A-Mountain (not a restaurant, but A great view).

I recommend you check out Four Peaks. Best bar/restaurant in Tempe. Casey Moore’s is a strong No. 2 though.
