Urban Adventure Races in the Lone Star State

Everything is bigger in Texas: football, brisket, Yao Ming ;) This is is why High Trek Adventure is bringing its unique sport to the 28th state of the Union. Here are the dates:

Dallas: February 21st
Houston: March 14th
Austin: April 11th
San Antonio: October 10th

But besides HTA there are plenty of other great races Texans can partake in. Here are a smattering:

Dallas
Terra Firma – these are intense races and more physically demanding than HTA

Houston
Houston Fit Adventure Racing – these races are intended those looking to improve their performance, or anyone looking to improve their fitness and have fun by participating in a variety of endurance sports

Austin
Oyster Race – mutli-sport (biking, kayaking, rollerblading etc…) race thru Austin; not sure if there will be 2009 races as the calendar is not posted yet

Urban Assault – this looks like fun, though there is a high potential of falling off a bicycle; New Belgium Brewing is a sponsor, which is enough for me to do it

Cool, but not in Texas
Lewis & Clark: Urban Adventure Race is actually in Fayetteville, AR (but worth checking out)
