TARers left the Bernese Alps and headed to Munich, Germany. Their first task was to drive to the outskirts of town and hop in a sky gondola 6,000 feet to the top of a mountain. It is here where the racers encountered a Road Block.
Road Block
One team member must paraglide 6,000 feet while the other must take the sky gondola back down to the bottom of the mountain. In the event of unsafe wind conditions teams may choose to take a 60 minute hike down. The wind appears to change at a moments notice.
Tammy risked it and hiked down along with everyone else, except for Mel. Mel choose not to run down the gravely path because he hurt his groin carrying the cheese in the last task. Lucky for him the wind died down and he paraglided down and went from last to fifth. SUPER LUCKY!
On the way down Linda got lost on the side of the mountain. Steve was afraid of her lack of direction. She took a wrong turn and ended up way off the path. She was the only one who was not able to make her way down the mountain. Lucky for her she found a good Samaritan to drive her to the bottom of the mountain. Poor Linda.
Detour Balancing Dolly vs. Austrain Folly (I would have chosen the Austrian Folly)
Balancing Dolly – teams must ride a Segue over a 2 mile obstacle course
Austrain Folly – teams must throw cakes in each others faces until they a berry filled treat
Luke is not happy with his mother choosing the Austrian Folly, but it’s his mother and he can’t argue. It appeared that many teams like the messy pastry toss.
After the “dolly” or the “folly” was complete, teams then had to find a woodcutter (it looked touristy and kind of reminded me of the penny stamping machines at museums). When the wood was cut teams had to take it to a guy who would stamp the piece of wood with the Pit Stop location. This part of the episode is kind of ho-hum until night falls. When it got dark Christie and Jodi fell victim to over thinking this task and actually found a 2X4. I don’t think that they are going to last much longer.
