1. Know your local trivia for the First Clue. It’s always a multiple choice so you at least have a shot in hell.

2. Find the furthest TREKpoint and start there, especially if you can take public transportation (you’ll be able to solve clues and save time). However, when doing this make sure that there is another TREKpoint close by otherwise you might want to rethink this.

3. Have someone at home (on call) in front of a computer to check things for you, plan routes, Google stuff, figure out clues etc. – communicate with them by phone (or if you’re really good mental telepathy).

4. Know your public transit…. schedules (have one), routes (know them), closest stops to key areas (start, finish etc.) Apparently you can text a bus stop number to some # and it will tell you when the next bus is coming. This is handy when deciding whether to run 3 or 6 km or wait for the bus.

5. Have a good map with public transit and landmarks.

6. You can save a TON of time by just asking other people for help…. offer them some help on another clue they are going to, flirt, whatever.

7. Use a Camelbak. You need to stay hydrated.

8. This one is dorky, but useful, especially if you’re in it to win it: Bluetooth.

What’s your tip that gives you an edge? Eat chicken before the race, abstain from sinful activities, run naked, what?

Hey Denver! Join the urban adventure race fun on September 12th.

Winning our urban adventure race isn’t easy. There’s a lot of tough competition out there: smart, savvy, swift people…yikes! We want to help you be the very best you can be, but if you can’t remember pop culture references to help answer the clues or where major landmarks are to help guide you to your next TREKpoint is then you’re going to fall behind. So, in order to prevent early on-set Alzheimer’s you better eat your vegetables. Here are some health greens to stave off memory loss:

1. Some of the best cruciferous vegetables: Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, and bok choy.

2. Some of the best leafy green vegetables: spinach, collard and mustard greens, kale and Swiss chard.
