We travel more than Patrick Ewing! CitySolve staff has flown enough air miles to wrap the Earth’s Equator not once, but TWICE, and fly from Honolulu to Phoenix! HOLY MOLY! We’ve traveled a total of 52,750 miles (once around the Equator is 24,901.5 miles).

The first 3 months have flown by and we’re not even 25% of the way through CitySolve Urban Race series. Here’s a quick and funny recap:

  • CitySolve Urban Race Honolulu raised $1,028 for the Honolulu Academy of Arts
  • CitySolve Urban Race Honolulu was our biggest first time event at nearly 200 enthusiastic racers
  • HNL racers built sandcastles in paradise
  • The Phoenix urban race had a CitySolver pick a burrito out of the trash to take a bite. Eating garbage was not part of the clue and will never be, but it’s funny!
  • Phoenix racers had to do yoga moves
  • The LA urban race was held on Oscar weekend. What craziness!
  • During the race in Hollywood, racers ate delicious cupcakes
  • The ATL urban race had CSers race in Buckhead for the first time
  • Houston was wet and wild! The temperature dropped 20 degrees down to 41F in 2 hours. Brrrr! That didn’t stop 250 Texans!

Do you like the Road Rules? How about Yelp? If yes to both then you gotta check out this Yelp job. So it appears anyway (the job listing is only up for 24 and launches on April Fools Day). It’s definitely the coolest thing next to working for CitySolve Urban Race. Yelp (one of our national partners) is filming a reality show where a handful of lucky Yelpers will get to travel the country Yelping all the way!

CitySolve Urban Race took the red-eye to Atlanta yesterday and woke up charged and ready for some Southern hospitality.

After spending a good portion of the day in ??? and ??? (do you think we’re gonna tell you where the race is going) we were starving, and didn’t want to wait…next thing I know I’m hearing, “what’ll ya have, what’ll ya have.” If you’re from Atlanta or went to Georgia Tech you know where I’m talkin’ about. The Varisty.


This place is a landmark complete with a turn-back-the-clock lighted marquee to drive-up section and quick and friendly service. I was disappointed with the burger itself. The fries were ok. The winner are the onion rings. These rings are so good they’d make Beyonce smile!

After lettering in eating, our team went back to work writing clues for Saturday’s CitySolve Urban Race Atlanta. Glad to get rid of that grumbling, so annoying but useful for survival I guess.

Finally, our day came to a close and needed one last meal before shoving off to REM-land. We decided to hit up one of ATL’s best eateries…The Vortex. If you’ve never been it’s an absolute must when you come to The Peach City. If you’ve vegan/vegetarian stay away! The Vortex has enormous burgers. It’s been a stop off for Adam Richman’s Man vs. Food. Check out the heavyweight’s blog and vlog.

The Vortex has also been ranked in the Travel Channel’s 101 Chow Down Count Down. Landing at #90.

This is where I (Jason) will be for the next 3 1/2 weeks. We’re taking a much needed R&R, but we will be working on setting up a race on another tropical island, Guam. We are looking to expand to Guam and possibly Tokyo in 2011! Whoo hoo! Where in the world would you like to see us hold our exciting and unique races.

I travel so much by plane that I should be eligible to get my pilots license (or at least an extra bag of nuts). I belong to 11 different FF programs: American, Continental, Delta, JetBlue, Northwest, Southwest, Spirit Airlines, Sun Country, United, US Air and Virgin America. It might be a little much, but since I sniff out the lowest fares online I know that I’ll be able to collect the frequent flier miles. I’ve gotten pretty savvy at finding incredible deals.
