Volunteering Made Easy

You know, sometimes it’s hard to “do good” when volunteering for community service and projects are made overly complicated and somewhat inconvenient. In the midst of busy lives, volunteering should be simple and accessable. “I have to commit to ALL those hours?” “I have to be available EVERY week for this?” are often questions people ask in their heads when deciding to volunteer.

Well, fortunately, One Brick feels your pain and is determined to make volunteering an easy and smooth process for everyone. Run by volunteers itself, One Brick’s mission is to enable willing members of the community to volunteer without hassle and stress. Their model is to treat each community project as a single event, allowing volunteers to register online for each individual event and so pick and choose how many events, how many hours they want to help with.

But that’s not all! One Brick also encourages their volunteers to connect in a social setting. They facilitate gatherings after every community service event at local cafes or restaurants to provide a way for the volunteers to relax and interact outside the work atmosphere. One Brick is dedicated to bringing the community closer – in every way they can.

CitySolve Urban Race is proud to partner with One Brick for the CitySolve Minneapolis race this Saturday! We have a common goal of bringing communities closer and the way we at CitySolve show our support is through the race. Make sure you sign up here. You don’t want to miss out on the fun!

Have a Drink at Murphy’s Bar!

“99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottles of beer. Take one down and pass it around, 98 bottles of beer on the wall….”

And the song goes on until the last bottle of beer is gone. But at Murphy’s Law, this year’s partner for CitySolve Urban Race Rochester, there is over 100 different types of beer and scotch from all over the world that not even a song can quantify. Open 7 days a week from 11:30 AM to 2:30 AM, Murphy’s Law offers a wide variety of food for lunch, dinner, and late night such as mouth watering crab cakes, juicy burgers, pub fare food of Irish origin, and refreshing salads that can satisfy anyone’s taste buds.

And of course, when there is food, there needs to be entertainment. Murphy’s Law screens several popular American and international sport events such as NFL, Sentana, and MLB, which is more than enough sports action for everyone.

Looking for a place to host an event such as a birthday party? Well, look no further, because Murphy Law not only offers special packages for party planners but also a private balcony and bar!

So what are you waiting for? Check out their website and register tickets for CitySolve Urban Race Rochester!

It’s fun to stay at the…

YMCA! Yes, yes. EVERYONE knows the song, YMCA, but let’s test your knowledge and see how much you actually know about the famous Y! (Answers at the bottom of the page.)

a. What year was the YMCA founded it?
b. Who was its founder?
c. What does the YMCA stand for?
d. Where was the YMCA founded?
e. What city was the first USA YMCA founded in?
f. Who wrote the YMCA song?
g. What is the (shortened version of) YMCA’s goal?

Now that you know a little bit more than just the first seven lyrics of the chorus to YMCA, you can impress your friends with your knowledge of one of the greatest and most well-known charity organizations in our nation. The Y is dedicated to “work side-by-side with [their] neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.” Their programs across the US have provided education and support for children, food for needy families, and health programs to keep families healthy.

The YMCA in Rochester is our partnered charity program for the CitySolve Urban Race Rochester race. Visit their website at www.rochesterymca.org and make sure you sign up here for the Rochester race to support the community and have a blast doing it! (Who ever said good deeds couldn’t be fun?!) See you at the race!

Sit Back and Relax

A combination of classy and casual elements, Henry’s Midtown Tavern, who is partnering with CitySolve Urban Race Atlanta, is the perfect place to hang out. Located in the heart of Midtown Atlanta, Henry’s offers a menu proliferated with a wide selection of appetizers, entrées, and desserts.

But that’s only the tip of the iceberg. After walking pass its unique wooden barn doors, you will find two bars decorated with wood textured columns that have 12 draft beers and 50 craft beers, which is more than enough to quench your thirst after or during a hearty meal. Giant television screens featuring sport championships, award shows, and season premieres, and the “Dog Wall of Fame,” where you can nominate your dog to have its picture posted on the wall, are found throughout the restaurant.

Henry’s 60-seat patio is also the perfect spot to go outside and enjoy some fresh air while dining on mouth-watering food. Even if the sixty-seat patio is crowded, there is another 150-seat side deck shaded under the canopy of trees. So come check out Henry’s Midtown Tavern, where there’s enough room for everyone to sit back and relax.

Also, check out their website for special events promotions and don’t forget to register for the CitySolve Atlanta Urban Race for more fun and great company!
